About Casual Industrees:
Created in the winter of 1998-99 at mt. Baker, casual industrees was funded with a damage deposit from our rental house on the mt. Baker highway. Run out of a house and made in a garage, the ‘multi-hundred’ dollar company was born. As an ad hoc clothing experiment, we collaborate to come up with lifestyle driven graphics without over branding them. Today, we continue to create in-house (literally) and sell in various core shops across the states.

Despite our somewhat lame beach weather on Alki, Coastal had an amazing summer. Outdoor Movie Nights with Hansen’s Soda, Friday Happy Hours with Molly Moon’s Ice Cream Truck, beach yoga with lululemon, the Anchor Point Skimboard Competition, AVA and NW Jr’s Volleyball Tournaments, the Seafair Pirate’s Landing, Alki Beach 5K’s and so much more…we had a ton of fun. Thank you for sharing it with us!

With this post, we’ve got some big news we’d like to tell you about: For the first time since our first winter, we will be closing Coastal for the off-season on Alki.

Alki Beach has proven, over our past 7 years here, that it is hopping in the summer and sleepy in the winter. We have finally made the decision to submit to that fact and for the sake of our business and families, we are going to take a hiatus when the weather turns south. We will close Monday, Oct 4th and reopen on or around Friday, March 25th, just when we all start to think about warmer weather again.

Please do not take this as a bad sign! Coastal is alive and well and has made it through the past two years of repressed retail economy in good health. We have you guys, our awesome Coastal family, and our loyal customers to thank for that!! You keep us alive and we appreciate you!

We will continue to offer a selection of Alki Beach apparel and accessories for Women, Men and Kids on our website as well as some local product from our beloved Casual Industrees brand. And if people want to give their favorite person a Coastal Gift Card for their off-season birthday or as a present for the Holidays, these are also available on our website (they don’t expire!) and we can send them to you!
